Typing test
A timed typing test at 15, 30, 60 or 120 seconds. It reports net words per minute, accuracy and consistency, needs no account, and every run is recorded against the individual keys so it feeds the practice as well as the score.
A word is five characters. That is the standard convention for typing speed, so a number from here is comparable with one from any other test. Net WPM counts only the characters you got right; gross WPM counts them all.
Around 40 WPM is average for someone who types daily without formal training, 60 to 70 is a confident touch typist, and above 90 is fast by any measure. Accuracy matters more than either — at 95% accuracy one key in twenty is a correction, and a correction costs more time than a slow key.
The test uses the same common-word corpus as the lessons, in whichever of the five keyboard layouts and five languages you have chosen.
